Blackberry Bold 9700: Today Themes
With the release of new devices, there is a release of new today themes. I have today themes available for tons of devices so if you do not see yours here, comment and I will provide you with the link. These themes feature a today section on the home screen. Everything on the theme is OEM to the regular blackberry Bold 9700.
The Themes
Messages Today

Calendar Today

Hidden Today

Today Plus

Hidden Today with L-Theme

The rest of the theme features what you already see on your when if you were to start it up for the first time. The fonts, colors, backgrounds, and tabs are all OEM. You are able to change the backgrounds to this theme so you may do that as you see fit. The icons have not been changed from OEM.

Just downloaded the Calendar Today theme – it’s working great!
Request:
Is it possible you could add another line to the calendar and perhaps add icons to the side to make an “L” theme? Andrew(quote this comment)
There will not be room for another calendar entry as it would interfere with the icons.
As for the “L” theme – I can do that.
Have a great holiday. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
i love the today plus theme, just what i’ve been looking for. but i was wondering if it is possible to add the weather in there somewhere?
even better if you could also make it with a hidden dock to allow for an extra line or two for message and calendar entries.
would any of this be possible? vanessa(quote this comment)
Everything you want/stated is possible. Please purchase the theme again and provide both order numbers and I will make those changes. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
Hi Matt,
I bought your Today Theme with Messages & Calendar – I’m wondering if there is a reason why you didn’t include the Application Name in this theme? Would it be possible to have that in there?
Cheers,
J Jason(quote this comment)
Jason, What do you mean by not including the app name?
Matt Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
I believe he is referring to the name of the theme. I just purchased this theme, and it is named com.plazmic.blah blah blah instead of a “proper” name such as Bold Today Plus, or something like that. This name can be set with the theme designer.
I have a question about the theme: do you know of a way to “fix” the calendar entries so that they display more detail? What I mean is that when an appointment has no location, the entire width of the screen shows the appointment name. However, if there is a location for the appointment, the text is displayed as APPOINTMENT NAME…LOCATION. This would be fine, except the location is so far left on the screen that the appointment name is cut off and very short.
I can’t seem to find a solution for this. My previous device, a Bold 9000, did not have this display issue. It appears to be something in Theme Designer that is screwy.
Thanks. Ian(quote this comment)
I don’t give my theme names at all except for saving them and uploading them to sell.
As far as your calender entries, the theme designer has no say in what gets displayed during the today sections. For that part it is just a click of a button and it adds the today section. There is not more I can do from there.
It could be OS 5.0 that is making that happen. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
Hi,
I’m looking for a theme that is the uses the Precision Zen theme as in the 9700 but with added features.
1. hidden today for email/sms/bbm (3)
2. sliding dock at bottom
3. transitions between screens
4. transitions for the little menu
5. the time on main screen to be click-able to alarm
6. the network bar to be click-able to manage connections
7. the battery to be click-able to options
it sounds like a lot and I’m not sure if its possible but I’ve found may themes with some but not all of these features. I would like to know what the cost that would be associated with this. Please let me know. Thanks. victor(quote this comment)
I have replied to you in an email – please check your email.

Hi there,
I’ve just installed your Today Plus theme as I really want message and calendar functionality directly on my homepage.
All seemed well until I deleted the next two events from within my calendar.
However, those two events continue to be displayed as the two events under Calender on my homepage and I can’t seem to get rid of them from there. If I click on them I get the message “Appointment deleted externally. Changes will be lost and the viewer closed”. I’m not sure what this means.
Help gratefully appreciated.

James,
I had that same problem on my 8900. I waited until the next day and it was gone. If you want it off there now, pull out the battery and put it back in. It should no longer be there.
For example, I had appointments on there for today and they are still displaying on my Today section. By tomorrow they will no longer show. (I hope….lol).

Thanks Matt – will see how it goes.
The other thing it’s doing is displaying an “All day event” as occurring at 00:00. A similar app I’ve been running on my old Curve 8310 ignored all day events which was quite useful as I’m really only interested in seeing my next couple of appointments on the home page.
Are there any ways to change this behaviour that you’re aware of?
Thanks. James Taylor(quote this comment)
Something like that should be in options. When designing a theme I am not giving an option to do anything like that. While looking at your calendar, hit the menu button (next to the green talk button) and search in options. I am not aware of anything to fix that. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
There are no options related to this in my Calendar. So I presume it must just be caused by a difference in the BB Calendar software between my Curve 8310 and Bold 9700. A shame, but not to worry! James Taylor(quote this comment)
Hey Matt,
I just bought the today calendar, although it comes up on my main today screen, it won’t show my upcoming appointments…?
thoughts on how to fix this? Michelle(quote this comment)
You can do one of two things.
1) do a battery pull.
2) enter a new entry in and the rest will come. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
Any luck with that “L” theme? Thanks! Steve(quote this comment)
Sorry about that. I am uploading it right now. It usually takes 24 hours to get listed. I will post a link in this thread when you can purchase it. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
No messages show up directly on my home screen.
Does anyone know how to get my messages/calander to show up? rai(quote this comment)
Hello,
Matt, I’ve just purchased and installed Your Hidden Today on 9700 bold. My question: is it possible to change fonts for bigger one? I have very small fonts – I think 7, it’s to small for me. I’m talking about today fonts – application names and calendar/emails events.
And the second question – on your screenshots I see new icons (suitcase, and email icon) – I don’t have it
best,
Karol Karol(quote this comment)
Karol,
I can change the fonts for you, please email me at matt at mattginsberg dot net.
The suitcase is for ‘activation’. You probably do not have it because there is no need for it on the phone. However, the themebuilder puts the icon in there. Also, for the email icon, pull up your messages, hit the menu button on your phone, go to options, general options, and make sure SMS and Email inboxes are on separate. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
Hi,
I have the Zen theme but it does not show sms messages as a seprate option on the home screen like my old 8100 pearl used to.
I have to go to the icons to get into sms which is a pin. I don’t want my sms and email folders to display combined for many reasons.
Is this app or any other able to list say:
messages
Phone
text messages
calendar
on the home screen?
Thanks
Doron Doron(quote this comment)
The messages today only shows messages. If you want them to all show, pull up your SMS/MMS or Messages icon and go to options > general options. Make sure the SMS and Email Inboxes is combined. This will make all SMS, MMS, Emails (besides yahoo, gmail, or any other app), all show up in one box. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
Thanks for the reply but that is my point. I don’t want them all in the one folder. I use the home screen that does not have icons. Ont he pearl it listed emails, phone, sms and calendar separately.
On the 9700 I can’t separate messages into sms and email, it lumps them together. This is what I am trying to separate.
D Doron(quote this comment)
Do the opposite then.
go to options > general options. Make sure the SMS and Email Inboxes is
seperate.
The Messages today will only show messages (text messages) – not everything. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
Hi Matt,
Is there any way to list both the email messages AND sms messages in separate folders on the today screen.
This happened automatically on my pearl but I can’t make it happen on the 9700. I am happy to buy your app if it can do that.
Thanks again
Doron Doron(quote this comment)
Doron, this can be done, however a separate theme would have to be made for that. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
Hello Matt
sorry for my bad english.
Today i bought the “todayplus” for my Bold 9000.
My problem with this “todayplus” is, that my Display picture very black is and the text collor by default black too is.
My question is it possible to change the text collor complete to white?
Thank

Hi Matt
I purchased the today plus theme, is there anyway that the calendar appointments can also show the time of the appointments?
Thanks Charlene(quote this comment)
No – it only shows the date. Matt Ginsberg(quote this comment)
