Tutorial: Abstract Art

In this tutorial, I will teach you how to make abstract art using a few paint brushes. This is easy stuff, I promise!

Step One

The first thing to do is to download the Ultimate Brush Pack No.3 by =Axeraider70. Make sure you save the file to a place where you will remember it, like the desktop. Once you download them, you need to install the brushes. I created a step-by-step tutorial on installing brushes into photoshop just in case you do not know how to.
Next, create a new document with the size of 450w x 250h in pixels. Use a high DPI is you are printing this. Set the background color to black (000000).
Then, create a new layer and name is BG FADE.

Step Two
Select your Brush Tool , choose a circle, set the Master Diameter to 280 and the Hardness to about 15. You can use any color your want. I used 9c2929. Place your brush in the center of the image and press your mouse key once.

Step Three
After that, you want to brush using a layer mask. Within your layers window, click on the layer mask button – . Select a grudge brush of your choice and brush around the faded circle with black (000000) like so:

Step Four

Finally, you want to add different grunge brush stokes and different colors and in their own layers.
Below is a sample of what I did with a few layers and different brushes/colors.

Make sure you want to play around with the blend mode. I used a mixture between soft light, normal, and hard light. With that, I also messed around with the opacity for some layers.

+ This looks great on a larger scale and is perfect to make for your desktops wallpaper.
+You can even go as far as adding an image in the front, give it a fade, and you have yourself one hell of a CD album.
+The choices are endless because there are so many brushes out there to choose from.
+If you have any questions, please let me know.
